BALTA’s lead investigator, Mike Lewis, was a keynote speaker at Food Secure Canada’s National Assembly, held in November in Edmonton. Mike spoke about the high degree of dependence of our modern globalized and commodified food system on enormous supplies of fossil fuel energy and the unsustainability of that model. He offered suggestions from successful models in practice of how we could begin to extract ourselves from our energy addiction through relocalizing our food systems. Thanks to the Alberta Land-use Knowledge Network, we have a video of Mike’s talk.
