Transform Montréal Conference – March 19-20, 2016
John Restakis on “Toward an economics of the common good”
The Transform Montréal Conference was framed as a social and solidarity entrepreneurship celebration and conference to bring together dynamic forces of social and economic transformation in Montréal. Its aim was to encourage the acceleration and development of a regenerative socioeconomic model and build momentum together towards a world beyond our current economic system. John Restakis gave the closing keynote address, ranging widely over models of transformative and people centred political economy, particularly co-operative economics. The case of Emilia Romagna in Italy was used to illustrate the power of an economic system focused on co-operatives.
